Bass Amps & Effects / Re: problems with TNT130 - worth fixing?
« on: August 05, 2010, 06:20:37 PM »
I have a TNT 150,  about a 1991 model, with a Black Widow speaker. It works well with the "Hobbit", but my '67 EB-2 made the cabinet buzz. I always assumed that the little triangular port, on the bottom, left hand corner, wasn't big enough to handle the BIG BALLS of the Mudbucker. I also have a 215 Black Widow cabinet with a Mark VIII head, from about the same era. That cabinet always handled anything I pumped into it without buzzing. It has a much bigger port.  :)

The local media doesn't believe it yet.

When Ike hit two years it was beyond miserable - no power, blazing sun, 100% humidity and not a bit of wind

At least, here in Minnesota, we don't have to deal with huricanes. Beer helps you survive heat & humidity in a pinch!  :toast:

The south did rise again, Walmart took over the entire country. Maybe Dave was a spy for the north, retired & came back home!  :-\

Bass Amps & Effects / Re: Gibson Bass Amp 800-B

I have the LP-12 amp. It's the same principal as this, but was designed for the low impedance Les Pauls. The speaker cabinet is powered, you could gang many of them together. The speaker cabinet of the LP-12 had (4) 12's & (2) 12" Universal horns. It is a beast that I may never move again. The Preamp lights up similar to the 800-B preamp. Here is a link to one for sale on ebay.

Anybody can claim that he moved to Minnesota, in line with this forum's high scientific standards we need palpable proof. Get that camera out.

I can vouch for the fact that Dave moved here (Minnesota). I live less than 10 miles from where he now resides. Although I have not seen him in person, he knows too much about the area to be a Texan!
My dream retirement job has always been to get three gold teeth & be a Walmart greeter. Hope I raise the bar a bit in the next ten years.  ;D

You have enough basses, Jules.

In todays times, of standards and statistics, what does the average "Outposter" concider,  "How many basses are too many?"  :o ???

It seems like no matter what I bid on, one person, somewhere in the world wants it worse than I do. If it were many, it would be easier to take. Sorry you didn't get it, maybe the next one will be a CMT fretless.

I wonder how many of these were produced fretless. The shipping total book doesn't show any.... A few fretless Rippers are listed.  :P

Looking back at the ebay photos, it looks like the "E" string tuner is broken. I may have one from my '69 Les Paul Bass. The difference would be the logo on the grease cap on the back. If I recall correctly, my bass had (3) "G's" & (1) "S" for Shaller. I changed them to a full set of Shallers. The Triumph bass has "GIBSON" stamped on the grease cap. (Nothing anal retentive about me!) I also may have a couple" Control Plate Stiffeners" left. A .015 thick spring steel plate that mounts under the contol plate to help prevent futher crackage.
I also would be interested in how the name "Hobbit" came to be.  ???

A set of tuners showed up on eBay, with the proper stamp...........  http://cgi.ebay.com/1968-GIBSON-BASS-TUNERS-SG-EBO-/250668768176?cmd=ViewItem&pt=Guitar&hash=item3a5d05dbb0

Congrats!!  :toast: The case seems to be in good shape, I've had to at least fix the handles on most of these. The early ones that I've come across usually seem a bit lighter, a definate plus! Enjoy!  ;D

Good luck Uwe! I've never seen a fretless RD in person, & this is the best looking color IMHO. Mine are in Fireburst, my second choice.  :toast:
