My birth family found me !

 For those of you who don't know my twin brother and I are adopted. Our parents were the best, we had as close to a idyllic 60's upbringing that could be, sadly they passed away some 17 years ago. About 10 years ago I attempted to search for our birth parents but was only given some basic info and back story, no names. Out of the blue I looked at my phone at 4:30 am Sunday morning and there is a message on fb from a lady is in contact with our sister and she has been looking for us! A quick exchange of information and bingo we are connected! I have spent many hours over the past couple of days chating and sharing pictures. Such a joyous thing. Our sister Dee says Mom always wondered about us and hoped we were well, sadly she died in 2003 . The times being what they were in '59 it sounds like she was forced to give us up by her grandfather. I harbor no judgement or regret, My life has been great. So I'm on a new adventure Here is My Mother in 1961.............Now I know where I get my good looks from. :)

  It seems our father is still alive. Funny in all these years I mostly wondered about Mom. I have a phone number and address. Working up the courage to write a letter.

Great idea.  You may not get an answer, but you're mature enough to deal with that.  Hope good things happen.

   I think calling him out of the blue would have a negative reaction. If I write he can take time to digest the situation. All I know is that he and my Mom were dating, I know the family didn't approve of the situation. Mom was 16 when we were born. . Once we were Born the family moved from Buffalo to Detroit to give mom a new start.

Scott, that's great news! We had a similar situation in my family - in 1964, my sister had a daughter that was given up for adoption. Feel free to PM me if you want to discuss your mindset on this. I was caught in the middle so I got to see the story from both sides.

Great news Scott! This has to be a strange yet exciting situation. A friend went thru this recently and met his father and half sisters. He has nothing but good to say about the entire situation.

I've been following this on your FB timeline. Very happy for you and Rick.

If you write your father, you'll make it clear you have no resentment and that you're not judging him. That ought to get a positive response from him. At least I hope it will.

Just happy to know where I come from. Our Mom thought about and worried about us her entire life haunted her to the grave. All I ever wanted was for her to know we were ok.
