Tonight's beer
« on: March 02, 2013, 06:34:55 PM »
My daughter Ali just introduced me to the Odell Brewing Company's Lugene beer.  It's a chocolate milk stout, brewed with actual milk chocolate.

The illustration is a cow's nose chewing chocolate bars. This is a new beer for me, but as a before-dinner treat it's pretty neat.

It's a dense beer with a lot of weight on the tongue.  Rich, very smooth, and when I roll it across my tongue I occasionally get a feeling that I'm rolling a Hershey bar through my mouth.

The other week I had a Kasteel Winter from Belgium. Normally I don't go for chocolate beers but this was unbelievable, as was it's price!

Young's double chocolate stout for me.
I like the dark and sweet malty goodness of Dunkel Lagers and Schwarzbiers also. Think I'll grab a six pack of Kostritzer tonight.

Last night I had a Shiner Holiday Cheer (lovely beer with flavors of peaches and pecans) and a Shiner Farmhouse ale.  Two beers is a big night for this guy.

Tonight, a good Washington beer...Pyramid Apricot Ale. A little specialty item with a nice taste treat.

Something from the other half's home state... ;)

This was my preferred poison but they switched from sherry to bourbon casks and the drink has totally changed, as did the name - the only way I can get these is at prohibitively expensive rates these days, or the part bottle I have at my friends in Devon... I always pick up a couple of bottles of the present production from the distillery on my way to the Island but not been home since '11... forgot to add, nearly all the production goes to Japan... 90%+ :o

Last night's beer......definitely try this!  One of the smoothest stouts you will ever encounter!

We're seeing more and more nitro beers in the craft breweries - they are extremely smooth.
