Love Lizzy and Philip. The first three albums with Eric Bell are very charmy and have some great funky tracks as well and the latest remasters have plenty of great bonus tracks from BBC sessions plus the obligatory single A's and B's like the Kevin Ayers -style calypso "Randolph's Tango" and "Whiskey" flip "Black Boys On The Corner".
"Vagabonds Of The Western World" is expanded to a double and has a great session with Moore on guitar and featuring an early version of "Showdown" plus a fantastic "Sitamoia" amongs others. Very recommended.
I saw the new Lizzy back in 1998 with Sykes, Gorham, Mendoza, Wharton and Aldridge and it was pretty awful. Very heavy metal with that high gain guitar sound, Mendoza taking the macho posturing of Lynott a way too far and Aldridge playing like he always does and without the swing and lightness Downey had.
