From soft Machine- Roy Babbington- kind of a lame solo, but shows what the bass can sound like - its 4 min + you will never get back.

I tried, I really did, got about 52 seconds in and had to bail.  :bored:

You missed the really bad parts.

By the end his bandmates were comatose.

I actually like that video - but it is kind of funny when the camera man focuses on the knobs of one of the synths - if synth knobs are more interesting to the cameraman than what the soloist is playing then you know the solo is boring! (As if you didn't know that already...)

Barklessdog

Once again proves how awful bass solos can be.

Just to save us all time, here's the heavily edited requisite bass solo joke:

Man visits jungle...hears constant drums in distance...
[snip]
No Bwana, if drums stop...it's time for bass solo!

Thank you, thank you, I'm here all week.

My great-grandfather used to tell that one all the time.  :P

Be sure to try the veal and don't forget to tip the bartenders.  ;D

That's why I knew the edited version would serve.

Don't get me started on the guys at the joke writer's convention who yelled out numbers....

GAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!! >:( >:(

I made it to 1:10 - you warned me that I would lose the time but not about mental scarring! ;D

I'm not impressed with the sound of that instrument (hesitate to call it a bass), but he's a very light player and I'm not impressed with light player's sounds usually anyway. Sounds like he has "strings too close together" syndrome as he's plucking. I thought his note choice was pretty good but when he turned on that fuzz box and other krap it sounded like me as a teenager trying to do my best Hendrix impersonation on a bass: not good. I guess there's a reason they never sold. I remember 4 or 5 of them hanging in a row in Fitchburg Music when I bought my first P bass in 1971.

Now that was................................................................................................... the worst bass solo in the world, ever.

Dont get me started on Michael Anthony again

Mind you the fender VI bass solo was pretty embarrassing to listen to. Whats with all the bad bends and bum notes?
