Cheating on diesel emissions is a bit over the top.   :-[

I still love my TDI Golf.  Even more so now that I know she's a dirtier girl than I originally thought.

OK that got weird.

Knowing that lot they were probably ducting excess emissions into the cabin. Strictly for the export market, mind.   :P

Do you guys think Volkswagen is the only one who's been messing with emission software?

Good point!  I wonder what Fiat and BMW are up to?  ;D  Let's not jump to conclusions because of one bad apple.  I doubt US companies are doing it.  Heck, we can't even get a web site for Obamacare up and working after spending $600 million plus!   :P

Apparently not. By proxy any part of the VW family will be implicated, and I read in the news that other manufacturers might be guilty as well. I would consider this an 'Emissionsgate' affair that will wrangle for a while.

Audi is family. Seat is family. Porsche is family...

And why would Germans be worse than the French or the Italians? Peugeot, Citroën, Alfa Romeo, Fiat, etc etc.

This may be a nice business opportunity for some American cars when the backlash occurs.

Whats makes you think American cars aren't affected?
I'd say any car with software under the hood is candidate

Especially American ones.  ;)

One thing I'm curious about is how the car computer knows when an emissions test is being done - like is there a sensor on the tailpipe or something?
