Cotton Eyed Joe
« on: May 02, 2012, 07:19:20 AM »
It's not what I would call a traditional version of the Cotton Eyed Joe. The video is from a festival in Switzerland and the band is from the Czech Republic. But this had my full attention from start to finish.

Did I mention that I'm in love with the fiddler?

Wrong Turn:

"Did I mention that I'm in love with the fiddler?"

No, not yet, but your obsession with scantily clad country babes is on record.

^^^ First one won't play.

Second one is your typical "country" band of today, third rate rock poseurs with hats. Well, typical except for being Swedes.

There's only one person on this forum who's obviously hung up on Ms. Paltrow and it's not me. Besides, she's not country and not a babe. :P

Now you can clear your brain of the Swedish poseurs by listening to the probably the most famous version, by Adolf Hofner.

Their hearts are in the right place, but having heard Cotton Eyed Joe played live a number of times in Texas, they're definitely sounding like a Czech/Scandahoovian interpretation.

Classical thighs. And she's a damn good fiddler. I wonder if she needs a roadie. I do know how to handle a fiddle. An electric one would be a little different but I would be willing to learn if she'd teach me!

Singer does have impressive assets.

The lead guitarist isn't very good at it but all in all it's wholesome family entertainment.  ;D

My favorite version...mainly because it stomps pretty darn good!!

This one has a hot young lady in it and some modifications....

Sorry to disagree but IMHO Rednex' versions are awful. As I said above, a rock band posing as country.

Sadly, Linda Jarosova is no longer with the Country Sisters. She was replaced by Maggie in 2011.

Fortunately Linda Jarošová is on Facebook.

I wonder how hard learning Czech would be.
