1960 EBO
« on: March 24, 2012, 09:09:39 AM »
Seeing the refinned Ebay EBO got me to finally do a refurb on mine that I remuddled in '74.  It's the second bass I ever bought (first one with 'my' money) and it will be the last one to go.  I spent a few hours yesterday making a pick guard, replacing the '65 Schallers with Hipshot Clovers, headstock retouch and general cleaning.

More pix and what I did here:

Carlo That looks great! Man I have always loved these basses. I had a 60's Epiphone Newport with the black pup and 2+2 tuners, great bass wish I never sold it :(

Thanks, Scott!  I'm glad I've kept this one for a lot of reasons.  I remember seeing the ad in the newspaper and driving to South Miami with my brother to check it out.

Yeah, I have some old friends like that, I can remember in detail the day I bought them. My Klira and Hofner come to mind.

Never gonna be a Junior fan, but I will forever love that slanted P single coil on yours! Looks just right.

Thanks, Guys.  This model EB might be the rarest short scale Gibson bass in terms of numbers produced.  I think they only made it for a year and a half.

Love the look of that bass! You've got that one, plus a T-bird II -64, well, nothing can touch you!
