Just a quickie shot for everyone, Uwe's kleine Donnervogel arrived today. I love the smell of a new Gibson!
Here's a size comparison to a '76. I'm out of town for a long weekend trip with the band so I'll post a proper review upon my return ( the new bass isn't making the trip!).

Aw, it's so cute! Will the other Birds accept it with that pickguard?

Nice tile work there.

It doesn't look exactly tiny in comparison to a real Bird, I'm a bit surprised. Body and headstock size give the illusion of a bass larger than it is.

Staring at that event horizon is a dirty job, but someone has to do it; something's going to come back out of it one day...

So which is the short one?  ???   :o

Not sure you want to say that on this forum!  ;)

The right one sans chrome is the Unter-Bird.

I think we need to see them laying flat, side by side, with a measuring stick.

Is that your measuring stick, or are you just happy to see me?

Remember not all of the scale length is in the neck. In a 20-fret neck, about 30% of the scale length is between the end of the neck and the bridge. The short scale neck will be only about 2 1/2" shorter and the bridge about 1" closer to the neck. That's assuming a 3 1/2" scale length difference.

Of course a 2 1/2" extension can make a big difference.  ;)

There are battery powered extensions? I didn't know that!
