a pic on the BBC site of a small wave hitting the Butt during some inclement weather... highest recorded wind speed for the station was 173mph... there used to be a foghorn too but that blew away...

Crystal Beach across Lake Erie in Canada was a fun place to take our kids. It's a gonner now. Lots of cool history there documented online.

I think the Cadillac dealer building was converted to something else, but I can't recall what!

Where's the Chicago contingent? We had Riverview in Chicago, and there was Kiddieland out in Addison. That property stood abandoned for over 20 years. I always wanted to do a band promo shot there. Fairyland buildings overrun with plant growth. Very cool for a backdrop. Then, there was the short-lived Old Chicago mall in Bolingbrook. Stores around the outside, and the amusement park in the center. I took a date there once.

We went there once during a visit when my older son was about 5. The mall looked newer but it was already dead. While we were walking around, the roller coaster got stuck. People were hanging upside down for several minutes and quite unhappy about it!
