Well, my Epiphone Thunderbird Pro IV arrived today, and sounds great. I have to say I bought this more for looks - shes a beauty.

It has a lot of sounds - most of which i'll never use - going from quite (but not really) deep  to utterly bright.

The controls are not obvious (to me anyway) but i'm sure i'll work them out. It isn't 2 volumes and 2 tones.
I'm not even sure I can use just one pup. It seems to be one volume and three knobs with a +5 -5 sweep rather than 1-10 (although not marked as such)

The Epi site gives no details, nor did the paperwork I received with it. Anyone know?

Nice Jules, add chrome and you're there.

Glad you like it, Jules! IIRC from playing the 5er, the controls are classic active, i.e. vol, bal, treble and bass. You probably mistook the balance knob as a tone one - happens to me all the time too!

The looks of this one caught my eye as soon as I saw her some months back but, is it just me, or would the looks be improved by not having the pickguard...?

This was just a quick mod to the image to get a rough idea, reversing the logo... all very pixelated, but you get the idea...

Agreed Kenny!
Maybe the bird logo should be a singe mark?

Fancy not being able to just use one pickup  :-\

Well I like the black scratchplate actually, but yeah John, some old chrome Tbird pups and a regular passive control layout would suit me MUCH better. Anyone know if this bridge is available in chrome?

I've got a pair of greatdealz tbird cases, just need something to go inside. Dimarzio G isn't it?

Thanks for the control description Uwe. Just goes to show you I know very little about new basses.

DAMN! if they just made them lefties... >:( . Out with electronics and in with some passive, theres the TB+ on èbay i bet they'd sound great, but maybe they're too small to fill the cavities...Uwe?

Amimbari Just flips them Hendix style.

Bitte schön! Need I mention that had you the legendary 20/20 not so glaringly omitted on your site, the workings of such controls would be second nature to you?

Looks nice. Keep the pickguard.

If one knob is a balance, why wouldn't turning it to either end be using just one pickup?

Stop rubbing it in, Dave, the poor Brit didn't notice that. When it comes to touching knobs and what it does, island folk are sometimes awkward.

Yes, a Brit wouldn't want to be caught setting someone off balance by twiddling knobs.
