Alanko

If I couldn't see the visuals I would assume that was amplified upright bass.

I wonder where they managed to get that one.

The grain in the two halves of that body are the most totally mismatched that I've ever seen.

I've only seen one in the flesh. The neck was pretty chunky , and it weighed a ton.

And yet I thought it was one of the most gorgeous things I had ever seen. I'm one of those that gets a little weak in the knees whenever I see a nice Ric.

Well, they didn't bother to make a 4 saddle bridge/tailpiece and used a guitar part...

I've also heard they weigh a ton. But it's a historic item. Very elegant contours, and a pickguard that looks like it was drawn by the designer's 4 years old kid.

Those early Ric basses were certainly primitive.

Still ... they get me.

The Ric 330/360/620 bridges are made up from off-the-shelf hardware parts. I'd say they're still primitive.

Years ago I thought that matte ATG was the most unattractive Ric color. When I started thinking of it as Höfnerburst I saw its charm.

I've always loved AutumnGlo. I was in possession of one for a short while. '78 4001, white binding, black PG and TRC. I think those were built for the Canadian market. My buddy bought it in Detroit, so that would make sense.

I think that a good buffing and gold-backed clear guard can be a major upgrade.

Killer grain. And I like the look of the new skunk stripe on the SW.
