Hmm. No Azureglo on the back of my book - that's Russ Tubman's custom painted "Aquabass" and not a stock color.
Who's Russ Tubman?   Is he in the bathroom business?  ;D

On my monitor AZG looks closer to L633.

On mine it looks closer to L360.

Apologies Paul. There is a 4001 shown on the technical pages right at the back ( page 140) with a toaster in the neck position and chequerboard binding. There isn't a shot of the complete bass, just closeups showing the screws you need to adjust pickup height and things. It looks a lot like the one that ilan posted on the 28th of April.

Yeah, "blue" looks better, but I can't tell for sure. BTW, that should be "Russ Rubman" - don't know what corner in the little gray cells came up with "Tubman." Sorry. :o

Yeah, that's my other '72 refinished in a brighter blue than typical Azureglo, so we can't really use that as a color reference. That was a basket case restoration done by Larry Davis with my choice of a brighter blue.

That is a pretty bass, what page is that on? It looks familiar. Never mind I found it on page 140, not too difficult to look up a few posts.

8-string fretless. Obviously a modded S/8, changed fretboard, but still nice. Starting bid $650...

I am pretty certain I have played that bass many years ago.  From what I can make out from the photos and the answer to a posed question, this is the same bass.  The refin had to have been done within 10 years or so as the bass was not in that color when I saw it.  The added fingerboard overhangs the neck, it is wider by around 1/8" on each side with fillets added to smooth out and round over the back of the neck.  It looked a bit like an aircraft carrier to me.

Whoever may be interested in this bass should proceed with extreme caution.  As sort of noted in the ad, the neck does have issues.

Another thing regarding that 8er, that refin is either a bad job or is relic'd as it looks like 3 or 4 decades (or more) worth of wear.
