TWINKLE TWINKLE LITTLE BAT
HOW I WONDER WHAT YOU'RE AT

Stjofön Big

Had that Bird been a piece with just one pickup, well, I would blow my budget for the summer. But, as it is, sometimes you see the light in the tunnel, and you understand that there's a point. I guess that's what happened to me right now...
Anyways, I'm back, as The Conturs put it in the intro to their big hit Do you love me. I've been down to the extreme south of Sweden, and then turned back to the absolute north of the country, to the Jokkmokk market. Bought some dried reindeer meat, which goes fine with whiskey. Now my eyes are fixed on one of my 60's Epiphone Embassys. Hold the line!

If I didn't already have a white Gibson I'd be all over that bass, Greco 'Birds Rock!

Staffan, you prefer a single pickup model?

I prefer a one pick up model too. My dream bass. But this is nice too. If someone's searching for a birthday present (Saint Patrick's Day that is)...

I think I'm completly justified in posting this pic of my T-Bird II, considering how many times I've had to see BaCH Birds. Your B-day present?! might involve pain  ;)

Yes, Dave. I never use the bridge pickups when I'm holding my Embassys. Have no need for it. For me, it's as someone here on The Outpost put it: Bass should be felt, not heard! That's the reason why I put the T-bird pickups on my Gibson Ripper, and on my copy of a Gibson Eb-0, 59 model, in the neck position. It's just on old habit. Hard to leave behind...
And, while we're at it: That bass of yours, Mark, is really looking good. Just one thing, though: With the original 60's bridge, the Bird looks even more great. So simple. So strong. I like that stripped down look. Now, don't you get any funny ideas just because of that, young man. No!!! Stop!!! Stop!!! I'm a married man... Oh, well, then...

No worries, I'm an equal oppourtunity bad influence........ ;)

This one's likely to get re-finned later this year at that point I'm thinking it's going to get one of Scott's 2 point bridges installed, I love that simple, stripped single pup vintage look too. Without doubt this IS one of the coolest 'Birds ever at a bargin price!

I was just curious. I don't even own any two-pickup basses anymore.

the last 2 pick up bass i owned was about 25 years ago. i also don't like knobs, switches, pickguards, giant bridges and all the usual stuff electric basses have even though you sorta' need 'em. ;)  rob allen basses look perfect to me in that respect. beautiful simplicity.

I'm keeping a nice balance of two-pickup and single pickup basses.  I prefer the tonal range of a multi-pickup bass, but the singles (the right ones) can be very cool.  If I weren't tightening the belt for the year, and my wife wasn't already complaining about what I have (actually, she doesn't mind if I get one, as long as I also sell one), I'd be very tempted.   As it is, I have 2 coming, and the parts for my next project already on hand, so I'd be pushing my luck.

Guess I'm the only one here who prefers the sound of two humbuckers over one.  :o
I really love the tight tone you get with an added bridge humbucker. Sort of a natural compression.

Rob, you're certainly not the only one. Look at the number of discussions about multi-switching options on two pickup basses.

And although I like one pickup basses, it doesn't have to be at the neck. Just depends on the bass.
