Commercially that would have had a huge impact, yes.

However at the time DC was too busy shredding his vocal cords to pieces because he was trying to be Robert Plant.

But Sykes did an impressive job taking care of the vocals himself.

Michael is out of his mind. He won't stop bashing his far more successful brother. Oh well. Jabs is an excelllent player, and perfect for what they became, but he doesn't have any kind of distinctive style.

Speedy's Comin - one of my faves!

Blue Murder - I liked that band, but in hindsight, the lyrics are awful. Coverdale wouldn't have made a difference in that department.  ;D

Yeah, it's really sad how he keeps talking bad his brother in any interview he gives. He is obviously not right in the head.

Agreed. And not just in hindsight. Some of those lyrics made me cringe back then.

Listening to ELP's Brain Salad Surgery last evening - man, what a great album!

I really liked Blue Murder...saw them when they were briefly touring.  The lyrics were crap in general, but Sykes was always one of my favorite guitarists of the general era.  Still have a couple of their songs in one of my playlists.

Dad allowed you to listen to "arena rock" as he calls it, Keith? The mind boggles. He generally pours derision or damning disinterest over it here.

Michael Schenker's whining has become unbearable. Yes, he's the more talented guitarist of the two brothers, we all know that. But unlike his industrious older sibling he never got his act together. Leaving UFO, an erratic MSG career + saying no to offers from The Rolling Stones, Aerosmith, Whitesnake, Thin Lizzy, Motörhead, Ian Hunter, Ozzy Osbourne and Deep Purple doesn't strike me as the material self-help books about building your career are really made from. They can't have all made crap propositions to him.

And then there is always baby sis Barbara who unfortunately died last year at only 56 without being able to mend anything between her two brothers.

I have a hunch that Barbara's life wasn't perhaps the happiest and had its share of demons too.

Ouch, that Schenkersister song is really bad/sad.

Keith could always listen to whatever he wanted sso long as the volume was reasonable.

But for pity's sake, you're stuck in ancient history. Keith is now part of the AARP Generation.

You gotta remember I was a teenager in the 80s and arena/butt rock was all the rage with my demographic.  Product of the times, ya know?

Sad but true.

So what, I never grew up either. Youth is fleeting, but immaturity can last forever!
