You're aware it's a cover of a sentimental (but not totally without musical merit, unorthodox or - if you're Greek - orthodox 😄 time signatures, some lyrical message) German-Austrian Schlager by Udo Jürgens about Greek migrant workers/Gastarbeiter from the mid 70s? It was #1 in Deutsch- and Switzerland plus #2 in Austria:

Cheesy or not, it was at its time perceived as one of the earliest German mainstream songs addressing the feelings of first generation migrant workers torn between Heimweh and finding a living in Deutschland. Udo and the lyricist Michael Kunze didn't do a bad job. While Greek origin Germans smile about the stereotyping it necessarily did, it is generally appreciated in their community.

And it became one of Udo's signature tunes until the very end of his career. He died in 2014 - two weeks after his last (sold out) concert in Zürich, a heart attack during a leisurely Sunday walk pre-Christmas, not a bad way to go.

Yes, I know about this song, its very hard to not know about it when you are a greek living in germany. One of my german colleagues listens to it full blast at least once a day. I used to make fun of this weird german song talking about griechisches schwein, but not anymore.
