The description in the auction said; STEINBERGER,FRAMUS,HOPF,HOYER,KLIRA.
But i doubt there is a relation to any of that brands. As the bass was located in Poland i did a search for Polish built guitars.
The tuners seem to be like some found on DEFIL basses (scroll down, fig.16);

I saw a picture of the bass in an very obscure  Dutch Bass magazine i`m subscribed to.

The "added value" in this Rivoli bass is that is you can track it down to a certain point in time, used by Tony Reeves and the bass can be heared on certain records. You should restore it to the way it was at that time.
The violin shape has no part in that story (as far as we know). Unless there is great story to be told about the violin-isation there is no reason not to restore it.

The new Viking bass looks cool to me...

Last summer I bought an Super swede bass . It was for a friend of mine in Denmark who collects Hagstrom guitars. Very nice (thin, but wide) neck trough, J style bass, as opposed to the swede bass, which is indeed more lp style.
