I once had a receipt from a female Walgreen's clerk whose name was apparently really Sukmeet.

Go for it!  Enjoy it.  My old drummer in Cincy, although he had played his whole life, hadn't really done a band thing until later on.  He's now drumming for Scotty Anderson.

I've got a live CD of Steve, not sure if it's the Original Receivers or Packet of Three, but he does an equally outstanding version of "Amazing Grace" on that one.

interesting combo here.

The really cool thing about this clip is that Gallagher didn't know the song at all.  You can hear Jack Bruce telling him how the song goes as they walk towards the stage.  Rory is getting a feel for the song during the first verse, and pretty restrained.  By the second verse, he's on top of it.  My favorite live version of this song.

When I started playing again, and had rekindled my interest in the old G&L basses, I was hanging out at the vintage guitars site, and this exact topic came up.  Someone mentioned a guitar show down in Nashville (this was about 2000 or so), and in a room full of names, this guy comes in to check out a guitar.  As he plays, everyone within about 20 feet stops talking.  He gets up, someone says how great he plays, the guy says something about being a plumber and that all his friends are much better, and then leaves.

Let's feel old....

The first Black Sabbath album came out 46 years ago.

Muse is now playing on the piped music in the grocery store.

I just heard Iggy Pop piped over the speakers in Macy's yesterday.

When I played for a living, my band *insisted* that I do a bass solo.  I was never too thrilled with doing one, but I ended up constructing something that was closer to a drum/bass duet.
One of my last bands did "Mustang Sally" - hey, I still like playing it - and the guitarist thought it would be fun to announce a bass solo out of the blue.  What I started doing was to stop playing when he announced my solo, and then start playing when he went back to the mic to recover the song.  He'd stop, and I'd stop.  He'd start and I'd start.  We managed to get about 16 bars that way.   8)

Judas Priest are a'right? Rob Halford cavorted around in gay bondage gear and nobody batted an eyelid, which tidily encapsulates a lot of the unconscious homoeroticism that seems to occur within metal, especially since the '80s. Quite the tonic for all those mumbling insecure homophobes I used to encounter on the metal scene.

Their 'cover' of Green Manalishi is pretty horrible though. Its like they read the lyrics but nothing went in.

The Judas Priest version isn't really all that different from Fleetwood Mac's original.  They do make up for it with their cover of Joan Baez' "Diamonds and Rust"  8)

I interviewed Halford when I was on staff at The Illinois Entertainer.  He was my favorite interview, next to Dee Snider, and Rob is the most articulate musician I ever spoke with.  He never paused fumbling for words, and never used "ummm" or got lost mid-sentence.

Since getting divorced, I no longer have a reason to drink.

I'm still trying to figure out how Lemmy's imbibing habit constitute "news".   :o

I got to see Bonnie Raitt with Lyle Lovett when I lived in Cincinnati.  It was one of the best shows I've seen, and my first exposure to Hutchinson was just as impressive.

If I've got this correctly, hopefully that design was a one-off...!

I was thinking two off...
