Rickenbacker Basses / Nice S
« on: January 26, 2010, 05:21:41 AM »
There's a '91 4003S MG/BT that looks really nice on GBase, from Southside Guitars - asking $1,800 which isn't cheap but isn't outrageous either for a neck-thru S model.

No affiliation, just a heads-up.

The Bass Zone / Would you buy a bass just because it looks killer?
« on: November 11, 2009, 07:27:21 AM »
I just did.

Bought this Soviet-era Bulgarian piece of crap only because I absolutely LOVE the art deco paint job.

What is wrong with me?

Someone in the Ukraine is selling 9 (at the moment) cheap 70's Russian and Czech basses. No affiliation. If you're into these things...

These links were posted yesterday on the RRF.

Part 1/3
Part 2/3
Part 3/3

Note the Fireglo basses  with vintage S specs and correct (non-reverse) headstock.  V63? 1999RM reissue? And the white 4001C64 with what looks like an ebony fretboard.

Guitars Etc. / Pulled the trigger on a '79 Strat...

This one... I like the wear and the white primer showing through the red.

And the price was right too, I think... $1,256. With $160 shipping to Israel and 15.5% V.A.T I should end up paying about $1,600. Around here these things sell for twice that price. So if I don't like it I can always sell locally and make a nice profit.

The seller says he will include the original bridge pickup. I'll probably receive it in two or three weeks.

My 11 years old son has started taking double bass lessons, I thought I'd post some pics...

Alon at 6 months old (top left), 2 years old (top right), 9 years old (center) and 11 years old (bottom).

Can he say "horseshoe" and "toaster" already?  ;)

Fender Basses / My 3rd Musicmaster bass
« on: May 18, 2009, 10:52:39 AM »
Parts bass that I put together recently just for fun. A beat-to-hell '78 body with heavily flaking finish that I decided not to strip or refinish, a '77 neck with tuners that I took off of a '72 Mustang bass neck, and a gray bottom Mustang guitar pickup (Musicmaster basses had 6-pole guitar pickups). I went with a white pickup cover although I know it originally had a black cover, I think it looks better this way. The mint guard, Strat knobs and wiring harness are new. And she sounds wonderful and plays very nicely.
