The Bass Zone / Gig pics from Friday night
« on: January 10, 2010, 10:10:12 PM »
The originals blues guitarist/songwriter I play with opened for Kevin Borich on Friday night at The Vanguard, which is a small but excellent venue in Newtown here in Sydney.  Kev drew a full house, with all tickets sold out by mid afternoon, so it was a great atmosphere.  The audience liked us too, fortunately!

If you're wondering, that's my '84 Tokai Hard Puncher.

Just a heads up that there is a new Australian boutique pedal manufacturer building some really cool passive (ie. no batteries or power required) effects pedals for bass and guitar.  I've just test driven their "Grunt" bass boost/overdrive pedal, and am impressed.  Here's the review I wrote .....

I don't own a hot rod, but I'm getting married tomorrow and the wedding car is a '57 Chev Belair :-)

Edit by George: I thought this deserved its own thread. I hope everything goes well, Mark. Congrats to you and your family!

The finish on this guitar shows that it has been played often, or at least, held a lot.  The fretboard does not show much wear at all so maybe this was used by the bass player who was the singer and only had to hold the guitar.

Approx $500 shipped.  Set neck.  From what I can barely make out of the serial number it looks to be from 1989.

Gibson Basses / Hard case for EB-2 or Rivoli basses?
« on: September 30, 2009, 04:02:07 PM »
I've got my eye on a Greco EB-2 copy that doesn't come with a hard case.  Does anybody know if there are any aftermarket cases that will fit an EB-2 or Riv body shape?  I know an Epi Casady case will work, although the Casady is long scale so there is a lot of spare space in the neck compartment of the case, so just wondering if there are other options.
