Ibanez in a country band?  Heathen...   8)

Heh...
I think all he really needed to see was a headstock and a Fender style body.

Yes, image IS important in this business we call Show.

Played in a country trio for a while where the leader didn't fancy my Steinberger,
citing it "wasn't quite country",
so I bought a cheap Ibanez
(strung it B-E-A-D as I recall).

He also didn't cotton to the name "Gonzo" either,
for the same reason,
so I went by the name Hank for the entire run of that band
wearing a feedstore cowboy hat and $20 Walmart boots.

...but I am an admitted Gig Slut
and as a trio, I was making pretty good money.

Hell, you call me whatever you like as long as that check clears.

What a great idea for Christmas!!!

We had a surprize family reunion for our Mom on her 65th birthday
(first time all the kids/grandkids were ever all in the same place).

I hope you have as much fun as we did!

Yep... works for me... thanks for allowing the download too...
'Tis the season.
 ;)

Did they video it....?
They had a video crew there
but I haven't asked about getting a copy yet
and I had my cam running too.

What did you use for the show...? presumeably an upright...
My trusty Steinberger XP-2
and the GK MB500 through a Neo 2x10.
The sub lows on that MB500 really added some "beef" to the stage.

Found links to a variety of their shows... is this the outfit you were posting about earlier in the year...?
Mmm... I don't think so.
This is my second Christmas show with them,
my first being in 2008
but I missed last year due to my commitment as Musical Director for "Bat Boy".
I did "Jesus Christ Superstar" with this organization a few years back
and will be doing "Annie" with them in April.

Dropped down the list and gave a few others a listen too... some very nice stuff... Cathi's tune is very understated; works very well...
Thanks Kenny!
"Cathi's Song" was written for the Mrs.
 :)

I used to be able to access your link from here but that seems to have been hijacked in the UK...
Well, I actually let the website slide
and I am afraid someone else may own the domain now.

Thanks again for taking the time to listen!

The Outpost Cafe / Christmas Gig

I recently did a Christmas Choral Concert
(with a 24 piece orchestra and full choir)
and I've uploaded a couple mp3s here-
http://www.reverbnation.com/gonzobass

The first bar or so is missing on both of them,
due to a slow soundman on the PA's "mute" button,
but the rest of the tune is there.

Handel's "Hallelujah Chorus" was of course played as written
but the second one,
"A Very Jazzy Christmas",
was an improv of mine over a chord chart.

If you've got a sec,
let me know what ya think?

...right hand follows the drums, left hand follows the guitar.
Yes, and to expand on the right hand-
Thumb follows bass drum and pop follows snare.

I keep mine in their cases, upright, on an inside wall.
Yes, I can testify to this.
Never store/hang against an outside wall if the temp varies greatly in your area.

Do you have a higher quality version?
I can save at a high bit rate.
It's a fairly short song,
so it would remain a reasonable sized file.

...or perhaps I could just mail you a CD?

I'll play.
Can I e-mail an mp3?

It's just been fake books for me lately
(in .pdf form)
and lots and lots of charts...

I'm willing to bet Mustaine about died laughing when Metallica covered Bob Segar.
I know I did...
