I miss the "shoulders" (where the neck meets the body) of the classic flying v shape.

I didn't say he killed music, just the CD as a media!

Which he didn't.
The music industry did it themselves.
Asking way too much money ever since the CD was introduced. Initially they said they had to keep the price high because they couldn't produce enough for the high demand of the market.
And they kept the prices way too high ever since.
No wonder people started sharing via peer to peer sites.

he killed the CD

He didn't.
The music industry did that.
Music industry had no answer to download sites like Napster etc. They only thing they could come up with was complaining and suing.
Jobs did the music industry a huge favor by inventing iTunes. A Dollar per song. Brilliant.

The whole story is actually the perfect explanation for the fact that Gibson didn't develop or produce their own pickups for the RD Sig.
With a total production of less than 500 it would be too costly to even make new pickup casings etc etc.

But they could have chosen something less generic and less 7ender looking...

That says more about the camera-man and editor of the documentary than of Gibson's interest in bass guitars.

He contacted me too! First he wanted an Electar and then he wanted a Triumph pickup

Yeah, it always puzzled me how Jack Casady wound up with this result after that much work  :-\

Yes, the rotary switch is the tone selector.

I don't think I'm that guy

You should consider "Got This Thing on the Move" or "Rock and Roll Soul"

I'll check 'em out!

Oh maybe I should have said tame.

In comparison to the original Gibson LP Sig it lacks authority.
The Electar just isn't there.

The Lo-z Gibson pickups have unsurpassed dynamics where the Electar sort of gets stuck at 80%

I'm glad I put a Gibson Lo-Z in it. It brings the JCS to life.
