Bill's Shop: Projects, Mods & Repairs / Re: 4005 facsimile

Here's a simple question re finishes and top coverings... the dubious/wonderful colour scheme on my Peter Cook was home done using car colours and lacquer to finish... that has lasted 25 years so far... I believe the present body deterioration and cracking is from below the present paintwork, which is why I'll be going back to the wood... I will not be able to afford pro finishing, so any advice and recommended products for the amateur...?

Straight off... I AM NOT ANTI SMOKING or SMOKER...

I worked on bar equipment for 21 years, but not for the last 5 years - it is kinda strange to have a "blanket ban" on smoking in bars and businesses right across the UK... but the difference is astounding... one of the only places they allow smoking is in Parliament, you know... "do as I say, not do as I do..."

I think the biggest thing I noticed once I stopped was the smell... I don't think a smoker can understand how bad they smell until they stop... sorry to those that do, but you do...  :puke:

Biggest helper I can give to those that do and want to stop, but can't, is this...

Add up the cost daily/weekly/monthly/yearly... now think of what you could buy with what you could potentially save... that personal treat, that holiday, that bass... think about it...

Also, never try to remember when you stopped... some people can tell you the day/week/month/second when they stopped... if you "think" about it. it still has you...

Also... I will always be a smoker... I'm just not smoking at the moment... that is pretty much the same for any form of addiction, and for any former addict...

Now if this sparks something maybe Dave can peel this off and put it in the (smoke free?) cafe...

If not. it's back to you, Doc...

And somebody mentioned dripping blood...?

I'd probably say there are about 50 reasonably viewable shots with about 10 good-to-print, so I'm happy and suprised - still a little work to be done to tidy them up, but alls well that ends well...   ;)

Michael... I was talking backstage in '83 to Stevie Ray Vaughan and Tommy Shannon (about my one and only big name drop that I care about) about the times SRV saw them - I was so in awe... never met anyone else, or conversed with, who saw them, excluding an American I was talking to at the bar in the Rainbow Theatre in '77 (whilst waiting for Skynyrd) who actually saw them at the Fillmore, but not those nights, also was at Woodstock - his lasting memory was "the smell..."
There are some commercially available recordings (most notabbly the "BB King Medley") which show what they could do, which was fairly compatible with the early ABB's...

Ah... cricket... I used to play tennis...  ;)

Being of Scottish descent I feel it would be prudent not to comment too much on this...

Terr... I presume this is from around 25 minutes of footage that shows up from time to time, and as you can see was profesionally shot, but I guess they just do not have the draw to do the research these days... may around/by October 29th 2011...

If you like them and do not already have it, chek out the live double, "One Way Out", which is a great show... I have an ambition to see them at the Beacon one year, but not at the mo... gonna wear a red, white and blue beacon tee for our July 4th gig...

No leathers here (sad ole veggie) ... had an old horse leather (sorry if that offends, but that what it is guys) jacket that was over 50 years old, back in the 70s, no arms left, real old styling... liked it a lot...

Bryan, that P looks too neat...  ;)

My canvas shoes have to be taken out for a walk...

My daughter wears the Con's round here...

Drag him out of retirement, Scott... our drummer did not gig for 21 years but he's not played better than he does today...

I have been off the weed for 16 years now, or therabouts...

The idea of a "solid" KM is kinda cool...  8)

Nearly 1700 here, Bret... and if you nose is coming back to life, steer clear of the silage towers, the slurry pits, and the kitty-litter tray...  :puke:
