Gibson Basses / Blue Sparkle Epi Thunderbird
« Last post by TBird1958 on May 15, 2024, 12:18:05 PM »

The new Epiphone Blue Sparkle Bird. I can't seem to get a good shot of it though. It's actually very pretty and in certain light is a beautiful sapphire blue color, kind of like a Bombay Gin bottle...............I like the neck on these better than the previous Indonesian made version.

A lot of Corman’s stuff had that “so bad, it’s good”-factor, that is no mean feat. The eyes-plucked-out scene stuck with me forever and made me a fan of that particular bible quote. :mrgrren: The Raven was good, true.

Not that I see a lot of Jazz artists, but I did actually get to see him at Seattle's Jazz Alley 7-8 years back, it was a really nice evening of music.

Sad. Great player. Loved his Night Music show in the 90s. I have VHS tapes of probably all of them.

I am a fan of The Raven with Karloff, Vincent Price and Peter Lorre (and a young Jack Nicholson).  Great movie with odd period special effects, and lots of portentous dialog spoken in foreboding tones of doom. It could easily be a two-beer movie.

Carlo, what's that PAF DiMarzio like?  I have a Carvin LB20 that I really love because of its neck.  It's been living at my friend's place for when we play together.  It's got their J99 single coils in it and I'm thinking of putting in beefier pickups and taking it out more.  Looking at options.

The split coil magnets are ceramic so they're more agressive alnico. To me the parallel wiring option is just slightly hotter than a Fender Jazz and the series option adds meat. Scott's the expert on Dimarzios IMO!

Exposer, hmmmmm sounds familiar! Lol My band in Boston was named EXPOSE! We were top of the pile in 1984-1986 courted by record companies,  in national rotation on WBCN, road crew, limos etc then it all went poof! EXPOSER almost sounds like another siggy bass! https://youtu.be/E1fP5tLo_oA?si=4uD1LplC1goDD8Nu

Robert Vaughn's performance in this cutting edge sociological comment arthouse cineastic gem is absolutely compelling, he was really born for the role.

And Neanderthalmen did age faster, you know.  ;D

Sax playing is always cool and he was a master in any genre.

The clip of Jo-El Sonnier and Richard Thompson I posted when Jo-El passed was from his Night Music show.

RIP, sir.
