His sister is real cute.

Nicely sung, I like her voice, but that overt slap bass sound is not for me, too little tone. That is not saying that she is not doing it well. But be it on acoustic or electric bass, a bass can quickly sound too percussive for me (be it Lee Rocker or Larry Graham), I'm more the long notes/cello tone guy.

Francesca's bass playing has become much more percussive over time, it's part of her development as a player and no doubt owed to the fact that the two play without a drummer. In Elvis' Fever version the bass is relieved of percussive duties due to the finger snapping and occasional drum breaks/rolls.

I think the sound is the result of the way the visible mic is set up. The percussive sound of the strings hitting the board is overwhelming the tone of the string because of the mic's properties. You can't mic both her voice and the instrument that way and get accurate sound. Each should be mic'd separately.

A mic mounted on the bridge and conducting sound from the strings would probably yield a very different sound.

I agree. If Paolo had been the lead vocalist, her bass sound would have been different.

New Lovesick Monday video.
