Sunday night we grilled and my stomach began hurting immediately after dinner. Took some Pepto-Bismol a couple of times and worried I had food poisoning but it didn't seem RIGHT for that.
Didn't sleep worth a damn but my next morning the pain had localized to a spot to the right of my navel about 4 inches. "Yep," I thought to myself and called the doc. Took out my appendix last night.
Bastard tried to kill me!

Well done, Denis! Get healed up so you can enjoy some real nice riding weather.
All the best. BTW, I'm local - if you need something while your're healing, give me a shout.

Denis,
Wow, glad you're okay -Take care!
As a side note, did they put it in a little jar of juice and let you bring it home as a mimento?
-
Glad you got to it in time! Heal quickly! I remember my gall bladder attack 6 years ago, man did that sucker hurt! Take care of yourself.
-
Glad to hear that everything went well ;D

90 minutes, or after extra time...? ;)
-
Glad you won that round Dennis! Heal up quick!
-
Glad to hear everything is fine. Get that sucker from the hospital and grill it! ;)
-
Glad you're OK!
And yes, grilled appendix sounds quite ghastly.
-
...or as a pimento!
Hahaha, I was going to say that!
Thanks guys! Went off without a hitch but I came away without the appendix in a jar. I asked if I could have it and they said "NO"!
This is not the way I would have chosen to get a week off work but what the hell.
-
Glad everything went well, don't push yourself too soon.
-
Glad you won. Take it easy for a while.
-
Sounds like less fun than a day at the beach, but it's a good thing you got it done ;D. I'm less than two weeks away from a new hip :o. Hospital trips are not the top[ of my "cool stuff to do" list. Take care of yourself bud.

Thanks guys! Last night was my first night back and boy, did I miss that adjustable bed this morning.
Still mostly on liquid diet but can have chicken soup. I guess that since I wanted to lose a couple of pounds in the beltline, this will do it. ;D
No motorcycle stuff on the horizon for a while since I'm really limited on what I can pick up, but at least I have that Longhorn here.
Good luck with the hip replacement, Rick!
-
Good luck to both of you gents!
-
Forgot to ask - keyhole or Kruger...?
-
OW! Abdominal surgery is never fun but orthopedic surgery is a major bit of pain. Good luck to the both of you!
-
Hail, you Harvester of Appendixes/Veteran of a 1,000 Abdominal Surgeries, something is on its way to you. Several little packages actually. Don't fear the Healing.

Gastronomy!
The clock stricks twelve, appendix burst,
Out at you from it's hiding place...

"Gastronomy"

That had me laughing out loud - even at 1 am in the morning in the office ...

Glad you are ok. My grandfather died in 1932 when my dad was only 3 - he had abdominal pain, doctor told him to sleep on it, it burst and he died.
I had mine out when I was 20 - that was back in the days when they let you recover in the hospital, I was there for 3-4 days. I remember when I was told I could drink water - they didn't tell me that I wouldn't be able to pee! They turned on all the faucets but it didn't help, and the other poor guys in the room had to go instead, including this guy who had been hit by a car and was in a body cast! I woke up in so much pain that I finally went to the desk to ask beg them for the catheter, but no one was there so I went back to bed and finally peed the next day.
-
Good luck to you both and speedy recovery
-
Thanks guys ;D.

Good luck Rick. At least the ortho surgeries tend to be very successful, although a bit painful Best wishes!

Lol Denis!
That's one of my fave BOC songs, it'll never be the same! ;)

Glad things worked out OK! I've been there and it's not fun...

Had my followup today. Everything looks great, so I've been cleared! Still have to avoid heavy lifting for a little while, but I'm good to go.
Thanks for all the well-wishing!
-
Great, that's good news. Take care and don't drink any Fosters.
-
Thanks, I'm pleased! Funny, I haven't had a beer since the night before the surgery. After a couple of days of clear liquids only, then limited solid food, the thought of beer just makes me feel full. I'm sure that will change later on. I HAVE had some Evan Williams Kentucky bourbob in the past couple of days though.
-
Way to go. At least a shot of bourbon isn't too heavy. Unless you're drinking from the bottle!
-
I've always felt that when they say clear liquids you should play it safe and follow the rules . Stick with nothing but Vodka and Gin until you're healthy enough to go back to the bourbon and whiskey ;D. You can't fool with your health ya know.
