Nocturnal

I like both. The first seems more streamlined to my eyes.

I agree.  But the second is appealing to me, because that's my bias toward the curved upper body area.  The first one would work just as well I suspect.

I like the first one better myself.

Yeah, it is a bit more elegant than the second one.  It helps to hear other folks' opinions!   ;D  As I said, I'm biased and need outside input!

I like the second one better. Lines are more graceful to me.

I think I prefer the first, but it's a tough call.
Basses: Gibson lpb-1, Gibson dc jr tribute, Greco thunderbird, Danelectro dc, Ibanez blazer.  Amps: genz benz shuttle 6.0, EA CXL110, EA CXL112, Spark 40.  Guitars: Danelectro 59XT, rebuilt cheap LP copy

I think I like the look of the first one better, but the second one probably has better upper fret access.

Alanko

I like number 2. It reminds me of... something. A wee bit of the Epiphone Olympic in the horns, but it isn't purely that.

Tough call I like both! Why not build a few of each ?

It is s tough call.  I gotta think about more.  I can't decide!!!! Maybe finishing the 4 basses on my bench will give me enough time to figure it out!   :P

Lightyear

I like both but favor #2.  I might beef up the upper bout a bit a lighten the lower if I were building to my taste.  As for the build why not give Carlo's process a try - he laminates a body blank out of white pine 2x4s and builds a dummy then mounts the neck to test for overall appearance and ergonomics - sometimes seeing it assembled is the best thing.

Yeah, choosing between the two is going to be much more difficult than I imagined.  Then, I also think I could just use my HB design for the solid bodies too.  It is still my favorite look among all of them.

Of the two, I like the first shape better.

That said, I don't think it brings enough distinction to be an improvement over the classic NRTB shape.

I'll don my flak-jacket now... ;)
