Group...

Does anyone know what color options were used on 1971 Fender Telecaster Basses?

...I have a '71 body that was stripped down and I would like to have it painted to the vintage color options and spec.

Thank you!

Only ever saw 'm in creme ....... paisley and blue flower didn't last that long. Other fins usually turn out to be refins ( or custom jobs )

So would "creme" be "blond"? Looks slightly transparent.
...I have also seen them in a wood grain gloss finish. I think those were ash wood.

There used to be a Fender site at provide.net that had color charts and extensive lists of models, but I can't find it at the moment.

I looked around online first, nothing jumped out at me so I figured I'd ask here...

That site has changed URLs. Here's the Fender main page http://www.guitarhq.com/fender.html but he doesn't have a page on the Tele Bass

Jules has a '69 bass catalog page http://www.vintageguitarandbass.com/fender/catalogues/1969_bass_4.php -- if you squint you can see it comes in "natural blond" as the only standard color listed but it does say it's available in selected custom finishes. But I've never seen a single coil Tele Bass in anything but the  blond.

I'm with you on that... but I do like the original look of those basses.

Ugh I  had  CAR custom color Tele got it for peanuts  and sold it for even less back in the day when you couldn't  give these things away.

So Chris Squire's Tele was modded and painted?

Ronnie's Tele looks quite white too even if it's a B&W photo.

No idea. I can't tell from those photos whether either is the original blond. Hard to imagine anyone ordering it in olympic white since it looks so close to the blond.

I know the bodies are ash....Like My '69...it's blonde...but under the pickguard it is white. So I assume it WAS white....Maybe they all were???? I would go Olympic white.
Also, the Pickguard is Mother Of Toilet seat on the bottom.

The blonde finish on my 69 Tele is reasonably see through. I have seen others that are more opaque.
I have a 73 that you can see the grain in quite easily as well.
