Ken got me on to this via his posting in the fat-bottomed thread ...

Picture of the artist as a young man ...

... and today ...

My guess is that he wanted the midrangy, grungy sound of the Standard model (which has a different pup to the Artist and Custom two pup models) coupled with the active electronics of the Artist model - best of both worlds! And he seems to prefer pups in the sweet spot position, see also his Ripper with the middle-implanted cream split coil in one of the vids posted by Ken in the fat-bottomed thread.

I remember reading an interview in Guitar Player around 1981 where he talked about his TRI-amped bass rig.

LOL! But if you play with the Nuge you have to fight fire with fire! And dog eat dog ...

And by the way, Uwe, Gibson made at least one Rebel Victory. I saw a YouTube video of band or something and one of the people who commented said he had one, all original from the factory. Could be false, but who would bother to make that up?

That's what I was thinking! I believe Atrocious Theodocious was still using like 4 Fender Twins atop Dual Showman 2x15 cabs at the time.

I think by the time Kiswiney was in the band, Ted had graduated to 180-watt Super Twins.

I've got pics from the stage pit for that era but they're not scanned - ripper/grabber type, iirc...

Oh yeah, the Rebel Victory (as if!) was a mini series Gibson did, they actually existed, but were just regular passive Vic Standards with the Confederate flag. For Lynyrd Skynyrd cover bands and KKK functions!
