Price aside, I'm somewhat disappointed that they're only showing vintage sunburst finishes while every six string they make seems to offer a myriad of top wood and colour combinations.  F*nd*r have got that right by a country mile.

They aren't showing all the colors of the guitar models in that 2015 lineup either, just all the model variations. So don't give up hope, with the increased price maybe they'll offer more colors.

OTOH how many of any color will they sell at $2600? Those price increases may work on the guitar line, I don't think it will go over well with bassists.

Looks like the only under-$1000 guitar left is a singlecut Junior.

I'd just like to see more variety on the colour front...I've got a VS, a couple of blacks and a white/ivory.  I'd love to track down one of the blue ones they did for the Japanese market.  It would be nice to just see the option.

I found a site that lists codes for all 2015 Gibsons. There's a separate code for each color of each model. Unfortunately it appears that VS is the only color offered on the Thunderbird.

Only Gibson would be able to make an import TBird look better than an actual Gibson.

It often seems that Gibson's R&D Department is just Henry blindfolded, throwing darts at a board that lists various hardware and design features from competitors, along with Gibson ones. After he tosses a dozen darts, Gibson's next year of  models is announced.

I think you're giving Henry too much credit Jon  ;D

There's no way he's that organized.

Everybody calm down or I will have 10 of you shot - randomly picked - to reinstate ORDNUNG. And you know how I am closer to you guys now than ever ...

It does what it says on the tin: This is the 2015 Thunderbird, not the 2015 reissue of the 63 model. Get over it. And it is sunburst because 8 out of 10 people that buy their first Thunderbird want a sunburst one, just like most Firebird players prefer sunburst too. This new TBird has ingredients that will probably make it sound brighter and a bit more modern than its predecessors, there is a market for that.

Of course I will get one. And gladly so though I dread the fading effect of those magnets if you bend a note - they are the pups pioneered in the G 3 Tribute and the EB bass.

What else is new? I'm in the boondocks of North California. In an Indian reservation village called Klamath (get your maps), maybe 30 miles from Crescent City. We landed in LAX on Saturday, September 20. Since then we have seen Santa Barbara, Monterrey, San Francisco, Yosemite, Mono Lake (Edith is a Pink Floyd nut, she had to see it in real after the Wish You Were Here cover), Lake Tahoe (no David Coverdale, but a bear - a live and wild one - at the lodge's reception in the rainy night), Sacramento, Sausalito, Napa Valley, Carlistoga, Little River just south of Mendocino, Highway 101 or No 1, redwoods galore and now here in the slightly moldy reeking suite at the Ravenwood Motel with a gas station doubling as a one armed bandit casino doubling as a liquor store doubling as a deli close by that is a microcosm of what went wrong in US Native American policies and programs in the last generations. And why dental healthcare is seemingly not high on Native American agendas. Oh, I forgot the two elk males we saw grazing on a meadow and unperturbed by the proximity of our (horrible ghetto pimp style) black Mercedes E350 (Hertz probably tried to be nice to us when they gave their kraut customers a Mercedes of all cars - I would have preferred a Mustang or Jeep and they thought I was joking!).

It's been quite a trip so far. And, liebe Amerikaner, your good country is a jewel of sights and nature wonders, we're quite overwhelmed and dazzled by it all.

I'll take this moment to apologize for the endless traffic jams that seems to be the trend in my fair 'green' city of San Francisco.

Sounds like a good time Uwe. Yosemite is beautiful. And yeah, you should have gotten a Mustang!
