We couldn't give these away back in the day. Looks like a cutting board, you could dice onions on that one.

They didn't look like people thought a Gretsch should look. And Gretsch was less known for basses than any of the other big names anyway.

The upside is that a Committee in this condition is only $1395 or make offer. Imagine what a Bicentennial 'Bird or Fender bass from that era would bring in that condition.

I really like the look, but would guess that it's pretty heavy.

Not a lightweight but not unusually heavy, at least the few I've played.

My experience is much narrower than many of yours, but so far I haven't played a Gretsch I didn't like.

I liked how those walnut body Fenders sounded. A bit nasal and honky, but with subtantial low bass ooomph.
