A college friend has worked for Devo for years and posted a photo of them together in 1995. He seemed like a great guy. Certainly a sad day. RIP, Bob2.

RIP Bob2. Those guys were really clever.

The new bimbo on local news called him "Bob Casale of the one-hit wonder band Devo." She could hardly even get the words out of her mouth without stumbling. That's what happens when you hire a pretty face with the IQ of a turnip. OTOH some other moron probably wrote the copy for her.

Why should Devo have it better than Deep Purple who were insulted as a "one-hit-wonder" by a RRHoF jury member?  :-\

Someone voiced his frustration about mis- or superfically informed journos and moderators ...

"Mr Grover 'n' Mr Gillian
You musta made a million
The night that Frank Zappa caught on fire
Could you tell us all about it?

Keep it short and use my version
Or everyone out there'll think I'm a liar
We can speak about Bananas (the new CD) for one second

Just because I understand
You have to get them off your chest
But in the meantime while you're talking
Could you do some more of these here ID's
And then this station might maintain some interest"

devo were way more creative than deep purple could ever be, uwe. we all know the rrhof is a pile of shite anyhoo. i wonder if this matters at all to dp?

Those guys were as weird, singular, and creative as they come. And yet, when they wanted to simply rock out, they could deliver that too:

Basses: Gibson lpb-1, Gibson dc jr tribute, Greco thunderbird, Danelectro dc, Ibanez blazer.  Amps: genz benz shuttle 6.0, EA CXL110, EA CXL112, Spark 40.  Guitars: Danelectro 59XT, rebuilt cheap LP copy

Yes in an off-the-wall sense, but DP had way better flare trousers! And they were louder too. Naked girls never gyrated with Devo either. Plus that DP guitarist - name escapes me, Jeff Page? - could play a Strat the wrong way round. Those are all musical values to me.  8)

No, it doesn't matter either to Devo or DP what some moron says.

BTW: Does anybody share my view that there is more than a little bit of Devo in Cake?

And in the Flaming Lips too. And if you take Devo, DP and the Flaming Lips all together, you come up with this here (health warning: off-the-wall creative content):
