That movie was on cable recently.  I watched it except for the first part.  Now, however, I see what I missed:  the proposal rejection.  At first, you think the movie is mostly going to be about humor.  The guy really does have quite a sense of humor and is a comedian, of course.  But about halfway through it, you realize he is either very serious or maybe just a very good actor.  Because after a while it does seem he is desperate to find a solution to his problem.  The movie has its moments and I'm sure there are people who liked it better than I did.  But I wouldn't recommend it.  Ultimately, in my opinion, it just turns out to be an exercise in futility on the guy's part.  I won't give anymore away in case someone does want to watch it.  Frankly, though, I wish I hadn't wasted my time on it.  I just ended up feeling sorry for the guy more than anything else.  Of course, maybe the movie helped his career.  Like I said, he really is funny, but the subject matter was just too grim for him on a personal level for him to be as witty as he probably could be.
It's not those who write the laws that have the greatest impact on society.  It's those who write the songs.
