There were other Martian story writers, for instance Leigh Brackett and her character Eric John Stark - I don't have them all but they do make good reading - she also scripted The Empire Strikes Back, so no surprise about the legacy of Burroughs there...

Thanks.  Since it's obvious Leigh Brackett was such a talented writer, I'm interested in reading some of those books.
It's not those who write the laws that have the greatest impact on society.  It's those who write the songs.

Yeah, those almond slivers in Mars bars and the ring of debris around Uranus have something in common.

Why do the Americans pronounce it Uranus when it's Uranus... why not call it what it is... Uranus... sheesh... anyone would think it has an alternate meaning or something... ;D

My best friend is a descendent of Sir William Herschel. I've always had fun with that one.

Sorry, need to update this thread.

Unfortunate Restaurant Name Of The Day

And to add to that, I'll put this up.  After I found this, and learned that it was real, I also found that it's in Avon, CO, where my girlfriend's son just moved.  I just talked to her, and she got a laugh, and is going to ask her son about it.

Then there's Dick's Pawn Shop of Myrtle Beach SC whose ebay handle is dickspawn.

I first heard of them about 10 years ago in a discussion at the RRF because they had listed a Rick copy as a real Rick. IIRC it was John Hall who called them "the aptly named dickspawn."
