Very nice work as usual, Carlo.

Are the powder coating paints strictly for metal or could they be used on primed wood?

FrankieTbird

As far as I know, powder coating is strictly for metal, as when you are spraying the powder, opposite electrical charges are applied to the powder and the work so that the powder will stick there until it is oven-cured.

You can powder coat mdf but it's a complicated process:

Not much use for musical instruments.

I've been around industrial powder coating a long time.  Around 400,000 chairs, desks, etc I designed have powder coated metal parts (another 300,000 or so are chromed, that can be a real PITA).   A great thing is the transfer percentage of powder, close to 100 % with a simple powder recycling system.  The oven also keeps your factory warm no matter what the season.

Thanks. I was thinking about small wood objects, not musical instruments.

If I was in more of a heavy rock band, that's exactly what I'd want.
Basses: Gibson lpb-1, Gibson dc jr tribute, Greco thunderbird, Danelectro dc, Ibanez blazer.  Amps: genz benz shuttle 6.0, EA CXL110, EA CXL112, Spark 40.  Guitars: Danelectro 59XT, rebuilt cheap LP copy
