Yeah, as close as I'm going to get to a production line

It levels well. I block sand with 320 no-fil (white silicon carbide) paper.  Sands extremely easily, exactly like lacquer primer surfacer.  A 4"x5" quarter sheet will prep one body.  The main advantage is once it cures there's no further shrinkage, unlike lacquer sanding sealer.  Since it's made for automotive use it's ready to be top coated in hours, not days.

Initially I was concerned about using the right amount of hardener for a small amount of paint but now have it at 80 drops per 6 ounces of primer.  The instructions say "use one bottle per quart".  I started off marking lines on the bottle approximately quartering that (for 8 ounces).  As I realized I was wasting a lot of paint I started counting the drops.

The black body was done with the 80 drops for 6 ounces.  I put a LOT of primer on the body and still ended up with around a 1/2 ounce.  So the next one will be 5 ounces of primer and 65 drops.

My Sunday project was finishing my original MAX Special prototype in Inverness Green.  The newfangled acrylic lacquer requires shooting color and clearcoats in no more than a 24 hour period.  Came out pretty good.  I used it over the poly primer.  There are two dime sized holes that were plugged, one in the side and one in the back where I was messing around with recessed strap locks.  So far so good, no telegraphing.

Since I was shipping the ExplorerBird today I got a picture of the pointy and the curvy together.  Feista Red vs Inverness poly, Ford vs GM!

The Special is for sale.  Artec pickups with nickel covers, 21 fret reverse headstock Eden neck with geezer dots, quick release bridge, 9 lbs.  $795 with case shipped in the US.

That MAX Special sure looks nice in Inverness. I'm sure the Explorer is fine too but I'm not a fan of pointy or red items.

I'm really liking the reverse version of your headstock - especially as it relates to your truss rod cover.  I love the green as well I really like that color of red but, like Dave, I'm just not a fan of pointy stuff.

Thanks,I'm digging it too, came out better than I thought it would.  Especially since that version of the headstock is a little different from the current one.  That trussrod cover is a laser copy on plain paper.  I'll use it as the template for the plastic one.

Did a neck adjustment, very happy with the Eden trussrod after 2 plus years on the job.  Leveled the frets and got the action down to <3/32" E string at the 12th fret.
