That's what I mean. You don't see many of those in stores at those prices, retailers will probably order even fewer Am Deluxe Dimensions.

By the way, what the hell does "players bass" really mean? Aren't all basses "players basses" unless they are so screwed up they can't be played?

It's called the Modern Player series. The idea was to have more modern, less traditional versions of the classics -- or at least that's how the series started. For example, there's a three-pickup Tele with a bridge humbucker, a hardtail Jag with two P-90s, twin-humbucker Jazz and Tele basses. Now the Dimension bass has an entry in the series and the Coronado and Starcaster guitars and basses are in the series, so I suspect it's more about price point now.

pretty guitar.  Contrary to basses though i do not love the sweet spot pickup on a guitar.  neck and bridge pups sound just fine to me.  LIke my tele the traditional way.    leave that other pickup for the strats...
once had a early 60's white 3 pup LP/SG body  and just hated the middle pickup being on with either of the other two.  Should have keep it and just unhooked it as it is worth a lot of money now....

The middle pickup wasn't put there to be in a sweet spot. Apparently having a Strat middle pickup (RWRP) has had some popularity with Nashville session guys, just to be able to have some Strat tones on a Tele. This led to Fender's Nashville Tele model, G&L's ASAT "S" and now this one.

I played a Modern Player Tele today in the store.  Didn't walk out with it but it played and sounded really really good.  Thinking about it...

Finish was kind of disappointing though.... I liked the dark grey-brown look of the photos, but in person the "charcoal" is almost black.

$2,360 MSRP for the American Deluxe. That's really getting up there. It's not that easy to find American Deluxe Ps or Js in stock, will they even order this one?

Agreed, but that turns out to be about 1.2K street (locally here).  The regular (non deluxe) version has got a street of CAN$499 which is well reasonable (and competitive with used Ibanez ATKs which I think are more of a direct competitor/influence than either the Victory or Stingray).

It would certainly be higher than 1.2K street in the US. MAP is about $1700 and if you know the right dealership you could get it for a couple hundred less.

Sorry typo - that's CAN$1.7K for the deluxe.

... looking at this again that's for the dual humbucker deluxe.  Single pup deluxe are retailing locally for 749 (4 string) and 799 (5).

Weird how 1 extra pup more than doubles the price.
