It's gotta be a refin, right?  And probably a new pickguard to boot?

DROOL! I'd say it's a refin but the pg looks original to me. 5k is silly for a refin.

That is what mine looked like when I bought it in 1969. I have often thought of restoring it. I wonder who did the work?

I'm sure Buzz would tell you if he knows - try giving him a call.  He has some great people that do work for him, but I think the bass probably came to him like that.
