I'm really sad to hear this. As a high schooler I got into the Doors and really appreciated and listened to their music a lot. Some years ago, Teri Gross of "Fresh Air", interviewed him and he showed how they developed "Light My Fire" from beginning to end. By the end of the music lesson I almost thought I could really play the piano. He'll be missed.
RIP, and thanks for all the wonderful music.

He also did some incredible production work with one of my all-time favorite bands, X.
They covered "Soul Kitchen" on their debut album and Ray played keys on it and several other songs.

Although I was never a huge Doors fan, I really liked his work.

When they were all together, they were one of the greatest bands ever.  R.I.P., Ray.

I was returning from Scotland the first time I heard Riders On The Storm (around the time of release) and have always had a problem identifying Morrison's voice with his looks after that... the Doors music has been within earshot for many years - I'm not a "collector" but have had all the regular releases from vinyl, upgraded to CD and now on the ipod...

RIP Ray... maybe you and Jim can jam with Jimi again...

A great keyboarder, cool-looking geezer, instantly recognizable with his fluid lines. I have his Nite City stuff too.

And while it took me a long time to "get" the doors, I now think they were a most singular band - image, music, lyrics , even without a regular bass player!

Well, he lasted more than four deacades longer than his lead singer. I hope they were good decades.
