Cheers Dave... seemed the logical path...  ;)

Engines were lifted this morning and the missing section of wing tip will be lifted later today... lots of filmed footage being shown on the BBC but not found much in the way of you-tube type footage yet - as soon as they get the beastie ashore she will be covered in a protective gel and shipped off to RAF Cosford (in the Midlands) to the preservation department, and then (at some future point) for display at the RAF Museum in Hendon, North London...

Like the Norwegian Blue, prefers kipping on it's back...

No mention of the crew as of yet...

Staring at that event horizon is a dirty job, but someone has to do it; something's going to come back out of it one day...

Which Toody are you? Joe E. Ross or David Johansen?

She's up...

...side down to be exact, RAF-boy! Why can't you ever handle anything we generously leave you with care, nein?

We can't be responsible for the way they parked her in the first place, dear chap... :toast:

Dave... it could only be the original....

I remember seeing Joe E. Ross on a talk show in the mid 60s. He struck me as just as dumb as the characters he played on Bilko and Car 54.

A couple of years ago WFMU's beware of the Blog ran a story about him that was, ermmm, interesting: King of Slobs

The "Oo! Oo!" stemmed from Phil Silvers winding him up and confusing him by ad-libbing in shows and he got flustered and frustrated by going "Oo! Oo! Oo!" until he figured out a reply... it caught on and stuck...

I like the line that it was cheaper to marry the hooker than continually pay for it...! Why am I reminded of the role of Ernest Borgnine in Poseidon Adventure when I read that...? ;)

I'm sorry but I just can-not accept that as an acceptable excuse for poor parking, old bean... we have standards to up-hold, you know...

You know the reason we drive on the left is so that we might present our right sword hand correctly, and the right-hand-shake originates from the same reasoning - by presenting an open right hand to your opponent or visitor it is clearly not holding a sword, therefore held out in friendship...

Nonsense, left lane riding with a sword in your hand makes no sense whatsoever (unless you are left-handed) because attackers don't come from the middle of the path, but from the woods left and right to ambush you. You can bet that the Sheriff of Nottingham never rode on the left.

Speaking of the Dornier 17 crew (as you asked): Two died and two (the NCO pilot and a crew member) had the good fortune (no irony) of early English POW captivity and survived the war. Bit like this here:

The Sherriff of Nottingham rode side-saddle, the big wuss...

I was aware of that film... did you notice a certain ginger-haired actor...?

(for that matter, I presume you've been away soliciting...?)
