It would be most interesting if they located a certain Norseman in the Channel... ;)

I thought this already happened sometime ago?

I have a fondness got the flying pencil since I built a model of it as a child.

Yep me to! fast for the time pre war, woefully underpowered and under armed at war time. Friend or foe I do have some sympathy for the the men who flew this plane against the R.AF.

It should have stayed what it was: A fast airmail transport. Heinkel 111s were at least reliable and had decent range and bomb load.

And Ken: With all the loving restoration you will be giving it, you deserve to keep it!

Is there still a Focke-Wulf Condor around? Another civil plane that didn't make the transition to military aircraft well.

Sort of. This, from Wikipedia: "Only one relatively complete Fw 200 exists today. This aircraft was raised from the Trondheimsfjorden in Norway in 1999.[11] Despite disintegrating on recovery, the remains were transported to the German Museum of Technology in Berlin to be rebuilt there. A request from the museum for a set of separate wings to be recovered from the Kvitanosi mountain near Voss in Norway to complete the rebuild was at first denied, because the local population wanted the wings to be left in situ as a war memorial. A compromise was reached in 2008 where parts not needed for the restoration would be left on the mountain. During autumn of 2009 parts were moved down by helicopter and made ready for transport to the Museum of Technology."
