I bought one! Man is this thing cool! Very nice build quality, made in Indonesia. This thing is going to Fla. with me in my carry on! Pics when I get a minute.

Here's a shitty phone pic of Warren Ellis of Nick Cave And The Bad Seeds playing his last night at the Beacon in NYC.

Staring at that event horizon is a dirty job, but someone has to do it; something's going to come back out of it one day...

Scott missed a real bargain there...

(never knew they went back that far... is there a "true" mandocaster? found a doubleneck with a 12 string style "head" on a Tele body - CS model)

Well here is the update on the mando strat. It does not fit in carry on luggage :( my bad I didn't measure, most times my spatial relations are spot on. Sure I could have taken it apart but that was a hassle I didn't feel like dealing with. It worked out though on the way back we had to check our bags because the plane was so full. Still I find this a great well made bargain with a LP of $399 and a MAP of $299.

Sooooooo, what is it?  A guitar?  Mandolin?  How's it tuned?
I'm fixin' a hole where the rain gets in..........cuz I'm built for a kilt!

It's an electric mandolin sort of styled after a Strat. Mandolin scale, tuned in fifths like a mando. There are a few others. I only know of one 8-string solidbody electric.

Low to high - G D A E. Same as a violin.

Yep G,D,A,E it's like picking up a lefty bass and trying to play when I first started on the Mando it kinda freaked me out now I don't even think about it.

I get it now.  Don't see me being able to do that!

Sure you could! It's only got four strings, and everybody knows that would make it easier than playing a guitar.  ;D

I've thought about trying an acoustic mando. Since my first instrument was cello, I haven't forgotten tuning in fifths.
