Our 25th Anniversary is April 29 :) and my dear wife has agreed to get me a bass as a present. Now I thought a fitting budget would be 2,500.00 but alas she thinks more modestly. My budget is 800-1,200. I would like some suggestions on what bass to buy. What would you guys get?

Congratulations on almost 25 years. In that price range I would be looking at a Gibson EB.

Barb has done this for me before.  Isn't it great when they know what we like and want us to have it?  Anyway, with your budget, I'd be tempted by this guy..............

First, Congratulations to both you and your wife Scott - May you have many more happy years together.

As for the bass, it better be some kind on Non Reverse 'Bird - I know you well enough that anything else won't feel quite right.

If you can use a hollowbody and don't have one, you can always check out the new Gretsch Electromatics.

Why not another custom Carlo one-off to your spec...?

It would have to be a "silver" fin...

Something unique...

Scott... Jackie liked your 2.5K idea but quickly told me not to get any ideas and remember to move the decimal point south for ours next year... ;D

If you have the capital you could do the split ($1.25K each) ... ?

Kenny I had thought of a silver NR but one of Carlos build is out of the budget. I like the hollow idea, maybe the Hofner President like Stu's.

I think some variety would be good for you!  I also like the look of the new Hifner Verithin basses.  Really cool lokking!  I do like my Sutcliffe bass.  Gonna take it to practice on Monday just to thump around some.
