Oh wait, he just did...

To their defense: That pic is from the In Trance/Virgin Killer line up, long before their first American tour, long before Love Drive, Blackout and, yes, Animal Magnetism. We don't have a lot of sun in Germany and there were no tanning studios back then.

I guess they were aping the bare-chested UFO look that was at that time typical for Way, Mogg, Parker and lil' Schenker.

Rob: Ritchie once said about a tour of Rainbow together with Saxon, Krokus and Scorpions, circa Straight between the Eyes-era: "I think the Scorpions are the best of the lot, they have a sense of melody. The others are a bit heavy-handed for me. And the Scorpions are harder to beat at soccer, Rudolf is a great runner."

Never mind that. Aping? There is an 800lb gorilla in the room, and his name is Klaus. While the unfortunate 70s fad of bare-chested band photos is ill-advised (particularly with this bunch), the combination of a snakeskin belt, denim short-shorts, athletic socks and platform boots (not to mention the Al Bundy hand positioning) is downright disturbing.

Sigh, Kane Roberts! Auntie Alice has had better choices with lead guitarists. That was my least liked Cooper era with that six-string Rambo - yikes. Alice Cooper guitarists should look one thing never: muscular and healthy.  :-\

I told you, Rudolf was just ripping off his little brother with that look, he must have thought rock stars look like that:

They lifted the look straight from UFO's 1974 Phenomenon back cover:
