You're not going to believe this but you're right!  ;D

We call them "Hamburger", "Frankfurter" an the people from Vienna (Austria) are called "Wiener". Curious, ain't it?

Remarkable. The W in Wiener is pronounced as a V. Wiener schnitzel is one of my faves too. They actually make it a lot in Israel where I've had some very good schnitzel. Usually chicken or veal and not pork though. I also like it mit rotkraut und don't forget the spaetzle. Prost!  :toast:
Contrary to what James Bond says, a good Gibson should be stirred, not shaken.

A schnitzel can be made from any meat, but a Wiener schnitzel is always made from veal.

Unless you're talking about the awful fast food chain Der Wienerschnitzel which was apparently named by someone who thought it was a hot dog (and didn't know that it should have been das and not der)

Poor little baby cows. Anyone who eats veal should watch George Franju's mini documentary of the Paris Slaughterhouses in 1949. It's called Blood of the Beasts. It's a supplement to the Criterion release of the film Eyes Without A Face by the same director. I still enjoy veal on occasion, albeit with a somewhat guilty conscience.

So is a Frankfurter with a full beer a Frank & Stein?

Hamburg is former British Occupation Zone, so that means they had freedom of press early on, but little to eat and lack of goods.

Frankfurt is former American Occupation Zone, so no freedom of press until later, but lots of C.A.R.E. packages and early market freedom.

Which explains why we not only have more Gibson basses today but also why the US stadium rockers like Journey or BÖC would regularly tour Frankfurt, but not Hamburg - no GIs stationed there as guaranteed audience.

Are people from Hamburg called Hamburgers and are people from Frankfurt called Frankfurters? Sorry, I couldn't help myself.  :D

... and people from Phuket are called...?

I still think my favourite named place is the Pidley-cum-Fenton Social Club in Cambridgeshire... or mayber Upper and Lower Dicker in East Sussex...

Let's not forget the two northern Iowa towns of Manly and Fertile, home of Manly men who marry Fertile women. Or vice versa.

Yes, the bass in my pic on page 1 of this thread belongs to Uwe, it's just wintering in Minnesota.
