Do we know that Ms. Fuchs qualifies as a "former" Thunderbird player?

We are in dire need of pictorial evidence to the contrary at least. The original Donnervogel fell victim during operations in the Japanese theater - which have gone down in history as the Lunaways Laid! (No innuendo intended!!!)

Looking at the pics in this thread I just realized that Ms Fuchs was not playing a Bicentennial as I had always assumed (given the proximity of the release of those and the Runaways making international news), but a 60ies Bird. Ouch, that makes the Japanese incident even more severe!

"I left the band at the end of our Japanese tour in June 1977 when my 1965 Gibson Thunderbird bass (a very rare, beautiful bass even in 1977) broke and I realized it hadn't been insured and that nobody was taking care of us. I was already at that point sick of all the fighting so it didn't take that much to push me over the edge. I was only 17 at the time!!"

Bad boy Fowley could have at least bought her a Bicentennial as a replacement!

Why is Ritchie Blackmore not mentioned in this thread?

Because it's a Jackie Fox, not a Lita Ford thread. You always mix up things, Rob. But to appease you, we'll mention Thin Lizzy:

"Jeb: You've been around some pretty good guitar players. Who taught you the most? Was it Ritchie Blackmore, Eddie Van Halen or someone else?

Lita: Ritchie Blackmore taught me how to crack an egg with one hand. Billy Sheehan taught me how to get the last drop of toothpaste out a toothpaste tube. You can roll it up and squeeze every last drop of toothpaste out of it.

I got to jam with quite a few people but I never sat down and had guitar lessons from people. I used to just pick stuff up off of my albums. I would listen to UFO and play "Lights Out" or Thin Lizzy's "The Boys are Back in Town." I would just sit and play it."

"Ford's earliest musical influences included Deep Purple and Black Sabbath. As far as Deep Purple was concerned, she said "I loved the whole band and Ritchie Blackmore was my idol when I was first playing guitar.""

Good girrrrl!

I happened to find Jackie Fox's Facebook page...interesting that she's an '88 grad of UCLA and a '91 graduate of Harvard law and is now an attorney in Los Angeles.

Also she unfortunately suffers from fibromyalgia.  That would make bass playing rather difficult, which is an extreme bummer for such a talented musician.

Well, I don't know if our latest member is *the* Miss Fox.......

But I certainly hope so!  :)

We're honored.

I traded messages over the course of a few weeks with Ms. Fuchs in 2007 or so. When I was a kid I worked with a woman who told me she was her aunt (married to Jackie's maternal uncle, if I remember correctly). One day I saw Jackie's profile on MySpace and sent a note asking if she was in contact with my old friend, and she tracked her down and passed on my information as well recounting a tiny bit about her leaving the Runaways to go to school. She was very gracious, indulging some nut on MySpace asking her about old (and, it turned out, former) relative.
