One comment in the article leads me to believe there's 16,999 more planes at the bottom of Lake Michigan...

Definately true, in the Seattle area many Naval pilots trained at Sand Point, NAS on Lake Washington. Our Museum of Flight dredged a Corsair out a few years back and restored it for display.

Devious yanks probably sent a couple of Hellcats under the Lend/Lease Program to unsuspecting Brits and called them Corsairs, so Kenny really can't be blamed ...

The news today said there are about 80 more of them at the bottom of the lake.  Not too bad considering the number who tained there!

It travelled the Great Lakes right up onto shore and into the museum of Science and Industry  ;)

Initailly it was displayed next to the Chicago, Burlington & Quincy (CB&Q) Pioneer Zephyr..........A very early all stainless steel diesel powered streamlined train.
