What an incredible musician - he was born just a month before my late father, I believe he served with the US Navy in WWII - I saw him with Spirit a number of times...

I'm really sad to see this.  He died on the same day my father died, too, years ago.

He was great live in their three piece format.

Guess he joined his stepson now.

Same lineup played the Rainbow that year with the Police (third on the bill) as support - can't remember if it was before or after that Rockpalast show now - I still have the programme and even the terribly scuffy tee shirt - one of my very poorest claims to fame is recorded on the single they released from the final encore at that show - RC was commenting that they wanted to play on but there was a curfew, and this lone voice crys out, "F*CK THE CURFEW..." and they went on to play Stone Free...
My voice I'm afraid...

A nice clean view of his kit in this 1970 recording

You haven't figured out Ken's annual name scheme yet?

Well. . . I thought the last one was plausible ;)

Ken became Herbie when he turned 53. He's just a love bug. The year before he was BUFF, a reference to a certain Stratofortress.

Next birthday he might become a New York City cop car. Or he may have something else up his sleeve.
