Hey, is that Tom Hamilton with a Parker Fly bass in your new avatar? I've got one (no, not a Tom Hamilton, a Fly bass I mean!).

Yes, that's Tom with a Parker.  By the way, the new Aerosmith album has just come out.  I haven't had a chance to buy it yet, but I plan to.

:o Was smoking hash in the public domain already in the early fifties in the US? Man, you guys sure were ahead of us. I first heard of it in the later sixties (and didn't get to try it until the late seventies or early eighties I believe, I've lived a sheltered life ...).

So this thread was about hash cookies all along?  :o :o :o

The controversy was about the hint of sex between boy and girl scouts, not about the mention of reefer (which meant pot, not hash). You certainly couldn't play any record like that back then on a station that reached the white public. Of course radio stations that served the black community had been playing innuendo-laden songs for decades but most non-blacks were clueless.

This wasn't about food!

Yeah, but even pot smoking already in the early fifties?

No. Almost unheard of before the mid-60s. It was something you heard about happening on the fringes of society.

This is a side issue, but I've already brought this up.  In buying the new Aerosmith album, I'd recommend getting the deluxe edition.  Some of the best stuff is on that.  I don't agree with doing it that way, but that's the way it is.  Albums are probably on the way out anyway, so I'm going to buy them while I can.

My favorite artists are Cream, Hendrix, and Mountain.  If you don't like that, that's your choice, and perfectly fine with me.

The word "album" has been extended to mean something beyond just vinyl albums to many people.  Nevertheless, I'm not always articulate anyway, so if something I say is misunderstood, it's no surprise.  Uwe's written English is better than mine and it isn't even his native language.

I still say and write albums too. It cracks my kids up and its a chiffre for people from the vinyl age, they are the only ones to use the term, "album" sounds like gatefold sleeve ... CD or disc sounds banal in comparison. Gatefold sleeve and lyric sheet rocks!

You young whippersnappers! The term album was extended to mean vinyl! A record album was six or more 78 rpm discs in sleeves which were bound like a book or photo album. Do an image search for 78 rpm record album covers if you've never seen one.

Have you not heard of the movie Reefer Madness?

uwe

No! And I didn't know what the term "reefer madness" meant, I had to look it up, though I had heard it before.

So you guys won WW II basically in a doped state? Adding insult to injury, insult to injury ...
