I traded a so-so '77 P for an '86 S/BT and thought I made a good deal... yours was waaay better!

Very cool! My Ric is always the undisputed champion of my collection, as much as I love some of the others.

I played it with the band last week. Still looking for the right sounds. Will do it again wednesday.

Today I played her at home on a Fender Musicmaster Bass amp (4001 + this little tube amp is also THE Black Keys bass sound) and she sounds very nice! My '76 Thunderbird will always be #1 because of the neck and sound, but I like this stylish lady. You can make quite a lot useful sounds and the overall sound is just.. sweet:)

I always liked Rickies because of Entwistle, Quaife, Lemmy, Bruce Foxton of The Jam... Stylish basses beautiful sounding. But also people like Tom Petty, John Deacon, Dutch band Peter Pan Speedrock and of course Little Jack from my current favorite band The Raconteurs. I always liked the look and the spiky and sweet tones it can produce.

These are cool. Are they 33.25" scale?

They're 30" scale.

I think so, his camera needs drastic color correction. You can see the grain in the headstock and neck joint pics.

Either that or it's the extremely rare lemon meringueglo.  ;)

SO...is the 3000 the bass of your dreams?

It's one of the few short scales with a sound I really like. Not the bass of of my dreams though.

I have to admint the 3000 really has a sound of its own. The 3001 is a bit too Fender-ish, but the 3000 is special. If I played it bassists complimented me on the sound, which is quite rare. But in the end it was a bit too small for me. Or I preffered other basses like the T-bird... There's more than sound only. The T-Bird sounds great too and looks the part!

It is sort of an ugly duckling. It's small and probably looked even smaller on you. I really dig the sound though.

The one now on eBay is now at $860 with reserve not met. It will be beyond my means for now.

Sold for $1782. Way too much for me.

It's almost too bad they say "Rickenbacker" on the headstock. They're "worth" probably half that.
